Kari, The Coding Lady Who Rhymes With Atari

Vintage Amiga Magazine

We are not Atari fans, we won't lie. Even if we could understand the respect whe should have for a Video Game pionneer like Atari, we could not forget that they almost killed the market they contributed to create.

That is why we are grateful to Japanese console manufacturers and game publishers like Nintendo, NEC and Sega, whose, from the end of the 70s and throughout the 80s, were able to revive the market with quality consoles and video games that justified their prices. Rather than games like E.T, developed in a fortnight and ending up buried in the Nevada desert. So man, even if we do not understand all the love Kari has for Atari, we are fascinated by this charming person, her impeccable style and her ability to bring our old consoles back to life.

Her smile is so pure that you would think it was his energy that brought the machines back to life. But make no mistake, it is his technical skills and, of course, his optimism that enable him to turn the lights back on. So don't hesitate to subscribe to his Youtube channel because titles like "Coding games like it's the 80's", "The Amiga was left rot in the attic, could I restore it?", "Programming Retro Games in Python", "Composite Video Modding The Atari 2600" made us want to protect her like a Zelda princess games she could redo by herself.

Kari
Hi, I’m Kari and I’m just a girl in her 20s who loves sharing my passion for making, fixing, coding and collecting cool retro things. So, join me as I travel back in time and experience old computers and video games systems from the 70s, 80s and 90s (sometimes 00s as well ;) for the first time. Through seeing how things worked, showing my attempts at restoring/repairing and fixing them when needed, trying out classic accessories and software, and playing video games from the past. Likewise, I love to explore old programming languages, from typing in programs from books and magazine listings, to trying my hand at converting old code to work with modern systems. I even share my love for all things pop culture, paying homage to timeless icons, through making and sharing files for you to make and do yourself, using newer technologies like 3D-printing and laser cutting. -x-x-Kari-x-x-
